As I write this, more than 800,000 Ukrainian refugees have already crossed the borders into neighboring European countries, fleeing the chaos and devastation brought on by the Russian invasion. Many more will do so in the coming days and millions of people in and outside of Ukraine will be forced to rebuild their lives because of this conflict. As a global design community, there are many ways we can help<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One way is by connecting displaced designers with new job opportunities. Designers United for Ukraine<\/span><\/a> is still in its early stages but because of the outstanding assistance from the design community, we\u2019ve already gathered dozens of working opportunities, connected many people on the ground in Ukraine with design institutions, and even helped a few of them along their harrowing journeys into safety across the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This unjust war is just beginning, and while we need to focus on the immediate needs of people being sucked into this unthinkable humanitarian tragedy, we also need to think about how we can help them reach safe spaces to cope and rebuild. Designers are often called upon to build the future\u2014we are literally obsessed with it\u2014so it makes sense that we should help the Ukrainian design community find sure footing and continue making excellent contributions to our shared future as designers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For these reasons, we are collecting names of designers and design businesses interested in helping displaced Ukrainian colleagues to reach safety and continue working.
